Effective thursday, Jamaican consumers started paying higher prices for cement.
Carib Cement had announced a 3 percent hike in the price of the product saying it was needed to help the company recover increases in input costs over the last few months.
The company says all cement purchased before thursday can be collected, at the old price, up to January 8.Thereafter, all cement will be sold for the increased price.
The increase which is to take place, is the fifth in the last 12 months, during which time, the price of cement has gone up an average of 10 percent.
