The Jamaica Customs Agency has implemented the approved suspension of custom duty on the importation of fish feed for tilapia.
Radio Jamaica News received a document released to customs officers, indicating that the Common External Tariff (CET) is to be suspended from April 24 this year to April 1, 2024.
'Extruded Fish Feed Shrimp' is also included in the waiver.
Radio Jamaica News recently carried a story with tilapia farmers complained of the challenge they experienced with clearing containers with feed at the ports, as they were being charged the full duty.
The fish farmers said they were running low on feed while they hoped they would get access to the product which had been on the wharf for days.
