Desnoes & Geddes pospones AGM, following Heineken takeover

Desnoes & Geddes, the producer of Red Stripe beer, has announced that, with the US$421 million takeover by Heineken, certain changes are now required to the Jamaican brewer's annual report. As a result its annual general meeting will be held later than planned.

The company had planned its annual general meeting for Tuesday November 5, but now it will be held on Friday November 13 instead.

The changes are in relation mostly to the composition of  the board of directors.

On Wednesday, Desnoes & Geddes announced that seven of  its directors, appointed by its previous majority owner, Diageo, had resigned and were replaced by Heineken appointees.

Those new members, along with others appointed since the last annual general meeting, will all be required to retire at the upcoming meeting and offer themselves for re-election.
