The state owned oil refinery PetroJam, has disclosed that a power outage affected certain equipment, causing an excessive release of soot from the facility in the wake of Monday's 5.6 magnitude earthquake in Jamaica.
Petrojam, in a statement, said the issue was addressed and refining operations and product distribution from its terminals in Kingston and Montego Bay continued.
There were also reports of excessive soot coming from the Carib Cement facility in Rockfort.
That company company said its investigations revealed no damage.
It said the brief shutdown of power to some equipment caused the dust plume.
Carib Cement added that normal operations resumed shortly after the earthquake.
