Harry Douglas, a former Member of Parliament and Deputy-General Secretary of the People's National Party (PNP), died on Saturday.
Mr Douglas won the St. Mary South Eastern seat in Parliament, the 1989 election, and served four terms before retiring from public life in 2007.
He also served as a Minister of State in the Ministry of Works.
Dr Peter Phillips, a former PNP President and cabinet minister, lauded Mr Douglas for "a life service to his constituents and to the country as a whole."
"He was exceptionally loyal and devoted to his country and the Poeple's National Party," Dr Phillips reiterated.
