Flow, the country's largest telecommunications provider, is once again urging the government to move quickly to pass legislation that would impose stiffer penalties on people who vandalise its network.
Speaking on Power 106 FM's Real Business on Friday, customer relations manager Sophia Morgan said the ongoing vandalism is driving up restoration costs and slowing the full recovery of the network following Hurricane Melissa.
She explained that valuable resources are being diverted from hurricane restoration work to protecting damaged infrastructure.
Morgan warned that combined with the ongoing rehabilitation of the JPS power grid, some customers may not have full service restored until next year.
In the meantime, she said Flow is offering payment rebates and has placed a temporary moratorium on disconnections for affected customers.
