Job cuts coming at Delta call centres

There could be job cuts in Jamaica ’s call centre industry.

Staff at Delta Airlines Call centres in Jamaica could be reduced in the near future as the airline loses profits due to the global financial crisis.

The company also says it has had growing complaints that flyers preferred to hear American voices booking them.

Delta said Thursday, it is no longer out-sourcing its reservation calls to centres in India and is in the process of having all customer calls answered in-house in the US .

Officials of Delta Airlines told the Associated Press that staff at call centres in Jamaica and South Africa will likely be reduced in the future.
