The JSE Index advanced by 6,843 points on Tuesday, while the Junior Market Index advanced by 34 points.
There was trading in 111 stocks, of which 52 advanced, 42 declined and 17 traded firm.
More than half the shares traded belonged to Elite Diagnostic.
