The government is looking to increase overseas employment opportunities for Jamaicans.
The Ministry of Labour says more visas will be granted to Jamaicans participating in the Seasonal Agricultural and Hospitality programmes in the United States.
Minister of Labour Karl Samuda recently met with officials from the US embassy to discuss visa arrangements for participants of the programmes.
He says the government will also be supplying more workers to the overseas employment programmes.
Roughly 5,000 Jamaican agricultural workers travel to the US each year under the farm work programme.
In 2022, approximately 12,000 Jamaicans obtained employment through the hospitality programme.
