Inflation ticked up again in May.
The All Jamaica Consumer Price Index rose by 0.4%, moving from 141.3 in April to 141.9.
The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) says the increase was mainly driven by a 1.5% jump in housing and utility costs, largely due to higher electricity rates.
Food prices edged up 0.1% with seafood and meat leading the rise, though falling prices for vegetables and fruits tempered the increase.
Restaurant and accommodation services also rose by 0.9%, reflecting higher costs for meals away from home.
Point-to-point inflation, comparing May 2025 to May 2024, stood at 5.2%. Key drivers were a 6.5% increase in food prices, a 7% jump in housing and utilities, and a 7.1% climb in restaurant services.
