Chris Dehring, a prominent Jamaican businessman, is among seven new members appointed to the Board of Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL) - the parent company of Jamaica based Carib Cement Limited.
Six directors of TCL including, Chairman Andy Bhajan resigned on Tuesday, minutes before a special meeting by shareholders was due to be held to vote them out. The shareholders later voted in the new directors.
The resignation of the directors, including CEO, Dr Rollin Bertrand, came a few hours after TCL lost an application in the Court of Appeal in Port of Spain for an injunction to block the meeting.
Mr. Bertrand resigned as a director but maintains his position as CEO.
The new TCL board was expected to meet on Tuesday night to appoint the new Chairman.
