The new termination rate for mobile phone calls of J$1.10 took effect at midnight. It will remain for the next 5 years. This is expected to result in lower costs to consumers to call from the Lime to Digicel network and vice-versa.
The Office of Utilities Regulations (OUR) will gather information from the two mobile networks to use in setting the rate when it comes up for review in 2018.
It has stated that should the review go past July 1, 2018, the current rate of J$1.10 will remain until a new figure is determined.
