Petroleum marketing company Rubis has opened a new location in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, St. James.

CEO of Rubis Energy Jamaica Michel Malatino says the new location represents a large investment for the company, which is celebrating 10 years in Jamaica.

The station, located on the MegaMart parking lot, is the 49th Rubis plant in Jamaica.

Mr. Malatino said between US$1.5 million and US$2.5 million was spent to build the new facility.

"So it's a huge investment for the company because you have a brand new station to the international standards and also delivering obviously the ultra tech fuels, the premium fuels that we deliver to the Jamaican people," he said.

The Rubis Energy Jamaica CEO revealed that the company plans to embark on an "aggressive and ambitious" development plan, with the intention to build two new service stations per year across the island.

The company will next be opening new locations in Falmouth and Portmore.

Mr. Malatino also touted the creation of jobs with each new development. He said about 1,600 Jamaicans are currently employed to Rubis.
