Rural Economic Development Initiative provides $52 million to assist small entrepreneurs

 
Small entrepreneurs in the tourism and agriculture sectors are receiving assistance under a $52 million initiative, developed to assist them in recovering from the economic ravages of COVID-19. 
 
The assistance is being provided under the Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI II).
 
The REDI II programme will benefit about 1,660 farmers, community tourism service providers, Rural Agricultural Development Authority Extension Officers, Ministry of Tourism staff, Tourism Product Development Company
trainers and regional staff, and an estimated 18,000 indirect beneficiaries.
 
RED II is funded by the World Bank and administered by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund.
