Scotiabank says local customers are now able to do contactless payments using the mobile payment system called Garmin Pay.
The application, that works with contactless payment readers, is linked to a watch or watch like device, and facilitates payments without a cellphone or card.
Perrin Gayle, head of Retail Banking at Scotia Group Jamaica, said this is in line with the bank's plans to increase the use of payment technologies.
"So they can go online, download the Garmin Pay app, and once they have a compatible device, this is already available and they're able to basically tap their watches or devices at any of our point of sale machines. So that is in market now, and we'll be sharing more information about that," he said.
