Scotiabank T&T reports marginal profit

Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago which is led by Jamaican banker Anya Schnoor is reporting a marginal increase in profit.

A report in Monday’s issue of Trinidad's Guardian newspaper says the bank made 545.6 million dollars in net income for the year ended October 31, 2012.

This represents an increase of 0.2 per cent over the previous year.

The bank’s assets at the end of the year stood at $17.7 billion, an increase of 4.3 per cent.

On the other hand the loan portfolio contracted by 6.6 per cent, as retail loans grew by $80 million, while commercial loans fell by $777 million due to the repayment of two large commercial loans.
