Royal Dutch Shell has announced that it has appointed one of its directors Ben van Beurden as its new chief executive officer. The Anglo-Dutch energy giant said he will take over on January 1, 2014. He succeeds Peter Voser, who will leave Shell in March 2014 after 29 years with the company.
Mr. Van Beurden joined the Royal Dutch Shell group of companies in 1983 and had held a number of technical and commercial roles. The Dutchman has worked in the US, the Netherlands, Malaysia and most recently in the UK.
