SVG's 2025 budget approved despite opposition concerns over errors

The St. Vincent & the Grenadines parliament early this morning approved the EC$1.85 billion Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the 2025 fiscal year, but Opposition Leader Dr. Godwin Friday said the document contains so many errors that he wondered if it was intentional.

The fiscal package is a 14.4 per cent increase over the approved budget for 2024, when lawmakers approved spending of EC$1.6 billion.

Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves, who will present the budget statement to Parliament on Monday, said the recurrent expenditure, inclusive of amortisation and sinking fund contributions, is EC$1.15 billion, while capital expenditure is nearly EC$700 million.
