Tax Administration has disclosed that, effective December 8, it implemented a special relief programme to support taxpayers whose businesses were adversely affected by hurricane Melissa.
The agency says this measure will be effective until March 31 next year.
Under this programme, the TAJ will temporarily relax the criteria for obtaining a tax compliance certificate to qualified taxpayers in Trelawny, St James, Westmoreland, Hanover, St. Elizabeth, St. Ann and Manchester.
It is designed to support businesses, which depend on having a tax compliance certificate in order to get contracts or other essential services, but have outstanding tax obligations.
