Tesla deliveries decline in Q1

US based electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is reporting a drop in the number of units delivered in its first quarter.

This was the first quarterly decline in nearly four years.

Tesla's deliveries declined by 8.5 per cent for the first three months of 2024, to 386,810 vehicles.

Some 433,371 vehicles were produced during the period.

The last time the automaker posted a fall in units delivered was in the second quarter of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced Tesla to shut down production.

Tesla says the drop in volumes was partly linked to efforts being taken to prepare one of its California factories to handle increased production, and shutdowns at its Berlin plant due to the impact of the Red Sea conflict and an arson attack.
