Throp-X founder credits conference for generating US$150m in real estate deals

It is being reported that the Throp-X International Conference has generated some US$150 million in real estate deals since it started during the year 2022.

This is being cited as a demonstration of the growing  role of diaspora investments in Jamaica's property sector.

Throp-X founder Winthrope Wellington says, during the first five conferences, it supported the acquisition and sale of seven hotels in Negril, five of which have been converted into private condominium developments.

One of the conference's major success stories is the West in Negril, which was formerly the Coral Seas Cliffs Hotel, which was acquired by a group of investors who attended in 2023.

Wellington also revealed that the conference helped more than 100 individuals to relocate to Jamaica, facilitated the opening of 200 local bank accounts, while assisting with provision of 100 TRN numbers.

The sixth edition of the conference will be held at The Travellers, from November 15 to 21 this year.
