Whitney Houston gets Grammy exhibit

L.A. Live’s Grammy Museum will honor Whitney Houston with an exhibit that will commemorate the late music legend's legacy.

Opening August 15, “Whitney! Celebrating the Musical Legacy of Whitney Houston” will showcase some of Houston’s memorabilia, including the beloved white beaded gown she wore at the 1994 Grammy Awards when she won album of the year for The Bodyguard soundtrack, and her personal Bible.

"We are particularly excited to showcase her long connection to the Grammy Awards show and to celebrate the musical genius that made her one of America’s most-awarded pop and soul vocalists," said Robert Santelli, the executive director of the Grammy Museum.

Houston won her first Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for "Saving All My Love for You." The singer’s performance of the song during the Grammy telecast earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.

Featuring interviews with her family, friends, colleagues and admirers, the exhibit is expected to run through February 2013. There will be photographs, albums, concert posters and scrapbooks on display for visitors to enjoy.

"This exhibit is a token of appreciation from our family for Whitney’s fans to enjoy and embrace,” said the late pop star’s manager, Pat Houston, in a statement. "We hope they are as elated as we are to have shared in such a remarkable life."

Houston passed away on February 11, a day before the 2012 Grammy Awards, at age 48.
