A total of 141 Jamaicans will receive national honours and awards this year.
Among the top awardees is businessman Keith Duncan, a respected leader in finance.
Mr Duncan is one of just three recipients of the prestigious Order of Jamaica (OJ). He is being recognized, not only for his success in finance and business, but also for his efforts to support social development.
Joining him as recipients of the OJ are long-serving politician Desmond McKenzie and Dr. Marlene Street Forrest.
Mr McKenzie will receive the honour for his decades of public service, while Dr. Street Forrest is being recognized for her strong leadership in capital market development.
In the Order of Distinction, in the rank of Commander (CD) several Alsion Roach-Wilson, Jamaica's Consul General in New York, is being honoured for her work in education, technology, and health care.
Also receiving the CD is Dr. Trisha Bailey, a Jamaican-American businesswoman. She is known for her work in entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
Others to be recognized in this category include Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, businessman William Mahfood, Elias Issa, and award-winning writer Olive Senior, all receiving the CD for their influential work in their respective fields.
Jamaica's sporting excellence is also being recognized.
Former world champion sprinter Yohan Blake will receive the CD.
Media professionals to be recognised this year include Radio Jamaica talks how hosts Emily Shields and Dr Orville Taylor.
There will be a posthumous award for Barbara Gayle, the widely respected retired journalist who was a respected journalist at the gleaner, who was killed at her home last December.
The official presentation of the National Honours and Awards will take place on National Heroes Day in October.
