The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is to advance the development of a 17 mile Kingston Harbour Walk from Ocean Boulevard in downtown Kingston to Port Royal.
The plan forms part of the development for the Kingston Waterfront.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says it will comprise scenic vistas and parks, a coastal and roadside promenade with active and passive space for recreational activities like jogging and cycling, as well as entertainment purposes.
“Economic activity will also flourish with commercial opportunities all along the walk, featuring restaurants and spaces for pop-up entertainment, bringing an enhanced quality of life to the capital city,” he added, likening the development to Cuba's famous boulevard, the Malecon.
