Sunshine Girl Shimona Jok was named Player of the Game as she produced a perfect shooting performance in helping the Melbourne Mavericks to victory over the Queensland Firebirds in round 6 of the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia over the weekend.
Jok had 61 goals from as many attempts, as the Mavericks prevailed 71-64. Elsewhere, Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard scored 53 goals from 55 attempts and Shanice Beckford 9 from 12, as the West Coast Fever beat defending champions the Adelaide Thunderbirds 67-61. Another Sunshine Girl, Romelda Aiken-George had 32 goals from 35 attempts for the Thunderbirds.
The New South Wales Swifts are currently leading the table with maximum 24 points from 6 games, followed by the Sunshine Coast Lightning and West Coast Fever on 16 points each and defending champions the Adelaide Thunderbirds completing the top four on 12 points.
