The shipment of 300,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from the United Kingdom arrived in the island Friday afternoon.
The plane transporting the doses landed at the Norman Manley International Airport shortly after 4 o'clock.
The doses will be immediately dispatched to various sites across Jamaica so that vaccinations can begin on Saturday.
The Ministry of Health is aiming to administer COVID-19 vaccines to 150,000 people over the next week.
Starting Friday, Jamaicans are able to make vaccination appointments via the Ministry of Health's website.
All adult Jamaicans will be eligible to get the vaccine.
