After being on interdiction for nearly one year, the Acting Chief Public Health Inspector for St. Mary has been reinstated by the North East Regional Health Authority.
Albert Brown, who is attached to the St. Mary Health Department, resumed full duties on Monday, after he was sent on interdiction, in March, last year.
Mr. Brown, along with the Acting Deputy Public Health Inspector, was written to by the Health Authority, which accused them of failing to follow certain procedures as it relates to environmental practices.
This led to the intervention of the Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors in the matter, with the Association demanding that the Authority withdraw the charges against the men.
President of the Association, Andrea Brown-Drysdale, said that they were informed, via letter, that Mr. Brown has been reinstated.
“Today the North East Regional Health Authority after an intense internal review has reinstated the officer and all the charges that were made against him were dropped. This matter was worked on aggressively by our Treasurer who has been active in the process of getting the officer off these charges which the association thought were unfounded,” Mrs. Brown-Drysdale.
Following Mr. Brown's interdiction last year, his colleagues in St. Mary staged a two-day protest.
This later resulted in the Health Authority dropping the charges against the Acting Deputy Public Health Inspector.
He was subsequently reinstated.
