Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams says the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation is insistent that Alice Waugh, the vendor at the centre of the Crab Circle debacle, will not be returning to the popular seafood spot.
Mayor Williams says following the guidance of the Health Department, Ms. Waugh is barred from conducting business at Crab Circle following the viral video which showed her carrying out an unsanitary act.
"Today, the Public Health Department has been very clear to us that Alice should not return to the location. So, until we have received communication from the Public Health Department otherwise, this is our position," he declared.
Mr. Williams added that Ms. Waugh did not participate in the HEART/NSTA Trust training and certification which is required for vendors to return to the venue.
Meanwhile, the mayor said the municipal corporation is considering a waiver of the registration fee for the vendors at Crab Circle due to the loss of income suffered when the venue was shuttered.
In early October the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department ordered crab and corn vendors to close their operations at a section of Heroes Circle, popularly known as "Crab Circle".
In a notice to the vendors, the Health Department said vending operations have been ordered closed for non-compliance with the Public Health (Food Handling) Regulations 1998.
