An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James Friday afternoon after it developed engine trouble.
The American Arlines flight was travelling from Equador to Miami Florida, when it developed the engine problems.
Chief Commercial Officer of MBJ Airports Limited, the operators of Sangster International, Elizabeth Scotton told RJR News that the incident occurred about 2:14 p.m. when the pilot of American Airlines flight 966 requested emergency landing at Sangster citing engine difficulties.
Miss Scotton said it has not yet been ascertained what exactly was the problem with the engine but she said the flight landed safely and none of the 150 passengers and seven crew members was injured.
The plane remains on the ground at the airport Sangster International Airport.
Miss Scotton added that arrangements were being made to accommodate the passengers on other American Airlines flights.
The incident comes just over a year after an American Airlines plane crashed after overshooting the runway at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
