Volcanologist Professor Richard Robertson and Jamaica's Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett
There are reports of another large explosion Monday at the La Soufrière volcano in St. Vincent.
The Trinidad-based Seismic Research Centre said flows have been observed on the flanks of the volcano.
Volcanologist, Professor Richard Robertson, said much of the mountain side where the volcano is located has been destroyed.
Regional and international help
Jamaica's Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, who is chairman of the Organization of American States Working Group, said regional and international partners are mobilising to provide assistance to St. Vincent in the wake of the volcanic eruption.
St. Vincent's Tourism Minister Carlos James has indicated that the country is in need of food and water.
Mr. Bartlett said the ash from the volcano has compromised the country's water storage system and destroyed most of its agricultural produce, so a focus will have to placed on how best to relocate people.
He said the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has promised to integrate cruise lines in the discussions to provide assistance to St. Vincent.
