As of Monday, applications for a spirit licence from the parish courts to sell or distribute alcoholic beverages will be available online.
Chief Judge of the Parish Courts Chester Crooks says the digitisation of the application process forms part of the Judiciary's strategic objectives to incorporate technology in its operations and to improve the ease of doing business with the courts.
The outcome of the application will be communicated via email.
A portion of the process will still have to be completed at the nearest police station and health department.
The Court Administration Division has embarked on a public education programme to sensitise Jamaicans about the new spirit licence application process.
