Explosive Trinidadian batsman Nicholas Pooran has turned down the opportunity to make a comeback to the international arena.
In an effort to assemble their best possible team for next month's ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Cricket West Indies recently reached out to Pooran to find out whether he was interested in making a comeback.
However, according to Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe, it does not appear as though the 29 year old T20 star is contemplating coming out of retirement to take part in the global showpiece.
Pooran shocked the world when he announced his retirement from international cricket last June and has since been plying his trade in the various T20 franchises across the globe.
Bascombe revealed that moves had been made to contact Pooran. However, he said those efforts have been unsuccessful to date.
Bascombe was speaking with host Andre Baptiste on the "Face of Sports" show on WESN TV in Trinidad over the weekend.
CWI will not name the West Indies squad for next month's ICC T20 World Cup until the end of their upcoming three-match T20 international series against Afghanistan.
The opening game in this series gets underway on January 19 with the second match two days later and the final encounter on January 22.
