Jamaica's women have started the CWI T20 Blaze on a losing note after going down by 9 runs to the Leeward Islands women at the Arnos Vale Ground in St Vincent on Tuesday.
Batting first, the Leewards women posted 108 for 5 from their alloted 20 overs. Player of the match Shawnisha Hector top scored with 56 from 55 deliveries. Amanda Edwards was only other batter to get to double figures. Chedean Nation was the pick of the bowlers for Jamaica, claiming 2-15.
In reply, Jamaica's top and middle order collapsed as at one point they were 60-3 and lost their remaining 7 wickets for just 39 runs.
Nation returned to put up some amount of resistance for the Jamaican women, top scoring with 48, while Stafanie Taylor weighed in with 25.
The Jamaicans will next face Barbados women on Thrusday before playing Guyana on Saturday, the Windward Islands on Sunday and Trinidad and Tobago women on January 21.
