Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett has added his voice to those who are anticipating a favourable outcome at the next review of the US travel advisory issued for Jamaica.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has committed to a further assessment of the advisory in light of the strides Jamaica has made in its crime-reduction efforts.
Mr Bartlett, speaking Friday on The Morning Agenda, on Power 106, said the tourism ministry has had to market against the negative reviews, which have affected the country as a travel destination.
The level 3 travel advisory, issued in January 2024, was revised seven months later in July. It highlighted crime and healthcare as issues for Americans to consider before travelling to Jamaica.
Mr Bartlett said he was satisfied that there have been significant improvements in the two issues of concern to the US.
