Chairman of the People's National Party, Robert Pickersgill, has accepted the apology from PNP presidential candidate Dr Karl Blythe regarding comments he made about the health of Portia Simpson-Miller.
Blythe who is a medical practitioner, yesterday apologised for saying the 70 year old leader of the PNP "is not well" based on his observation of her in two television interviews last week.
That comment was said to be "out of order...unethical and damaging" by the PNP Chairman Robert Pickersgill.
He had also suggested that the comments could result in Blythe facing sanctions from the PNP.
However with Blythe apologising about his comments , the PNP chairman said he has accepted it.
He said he also expects the leadership of the party to accept the apology as well because it was a comprehensive one.
Meanwhile, while Blythe has apologised to Simpson Miller, he has taken issue with how the party chairman used the media as a means of communicating his displeasure over the statement instead of speaking to him directly.
"When it comes to apologising and it comes to me by way of the media, from the Chairman, I tend to rubbish that .... but I have long since considered by reply and my utterances and I have already sent an apology to Comrade Simpson Miller and her family."
