Boscobel airport to be renamed

A well-placed Government source has confirmed that Jamaica’s newest airport, the Boscobel Aerodrome, is to be named after James Bond author, Ian Fleming.

The three hundred million dollar airport will cater to private jets, and is scheduled to open next month.

An Internet report says the Jamaican Government hopes the airport, combined with new high end hotels and casinos, will attract more affluent clients.

Tourism Minister, Ed Bartlett, revealed that Jamaica already had the budget and middle market covered, and while some luxury hotels already exist, the country wanted to offer more to the very rich clients. He said upgrading infrastructure, improving shopping, and various other projects to achieve this, will represent a $1 billion investment by completion.

Addressing a Chamber of Commerce meeting in October, Transport Minister, Mike Henry, revealed that works at the Boscobel Aerodrome included the expansion of the runway, as well as the construction of a fuel station and terminal building.    The project was to have been completed for a May opening, to coincide with increased summer air traffic.
