Canada making coronavirus vaccination mandatory for travellers

The Canadian government on Friday announced it will soon require travellers on commercial flights, inter-provincial passenger trains and cruise ships to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The government said it will also require all federal public servants to be vaccinated.

Minister of Inter-governmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc said the vaccine requirement for public servants will be in place later this year and he expects corporations owned by the federal government and other federally regulated employers to follow suit.

Mr. LeBlanc said this is the best way to end the pandemic and allow the economy to safely remain open.

He added that testing and screening measures will be put in place for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.
