Canada's Flair Airlines to begin flights to Kingston

The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that Canadian airline Flair will begin operating between Toronto, Canada and Kingston starting December.

 

The ministry says this will be the first time the airline will operate in Jamaica.  

 

It will provide service three times weekly.

 

Delano Seiveright, Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism, says the announcement of Flair Airlines flights into Kingston is timely. 

 

Noting that Kingston is "huge for diaspora traffic", Mr. Seiveright said the new flights by Flair come at a strategic time as the Christmas season approaches. 

 

"Kingston is growing in appeal as a vibrant cultural, arts and entertainment hub in the Caribbean. The city, because of the concerts that have been held in recent weeks and months, is really cementing Kingston as a professional and international city for entertainment. And that's a big plus as we continue to promote the city and its offerings," he added. 

 

Flair will begin flights to Kingston on December 16, offering 1,134 seats three times weekly between Toronto-Pearson and Kingston. 

 

It will compete in this segment with Air Canada, Caribbean Airlines, Swoop and Westjet.

 

Mr. Seiveright said another Canadian airline is actively considering nonstop flights between Toronto and Kingston next summer.
