Canadian airline CanJet has issued a statement on its
website about the hijacking.
It says CanJet Airlines Flight 918 was being operated for Transat Tours Canada.
The flight from Halifax, Nova Scotia, had made a scheduled landing at Montego Bay when an armed man boarded the aircraft.
CanJet adds that it is cooperating fully with local authorities.
The airline also says there has been no damage to the aircraft and has corroborated reports that no one has been injured in the hijacking.
CanJet says its immediate priority is the well-being of the passengers and crew who were involved in the incident.
