The Caribbean Development Bank says it is in communication with the Government of Jamaica as the country looks to recover from the impact of Hurricane Beryl on July 3.
In a release, the CDB said it has also deployed staff to Grenada and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines to assist in delivering support, as both countries were affected by the storm on July 1.
The CDB-supported Regional Response Mechanism has been activated, mobilising resources such as personnel, equipment, and financial assistance for territories most severely affected by the storm.
Through the RRM, being operationally spearheaded by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, personnel are now on the ground in affected territories, carrying out the necessary physical and social needs assessments to effectively support coordination of the first line response.
CDB's acting president, Isaac Solomon, says the bank is committed to providing immediate and effective support to the communities affected by Hurricane Beryl.
The CDB's staff will support the social aspects of the post-event evaluations, including stakeholder engagement with government representatives, non-governmental and community-based organisations, and impacted households.
The Bank says it is also monitoring developments in Cayman Islands and Belize, other member countries that the hurricane was projected to impact.
Reports from the Cayman Islands are that the storm brought heavy rain and a storm surge that caused pockets of serious damage but left the bulk of the territory largely unscathed.
