The Carnival Magic cruise vessel which suffered damage on Tuesday due to bad weather conditions at the Ocho Rios Cruise Terminal in St. Ann has left Jamaica.
The conditions resulted in the breaking of the vessel's mooring ropes, damage to the breasting dolphins and collision with the concrete berthing structure.
The cruise ship departed the island Wednesday afternoon following safety inspections.
Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, head of the St. Ann Police, said officers closely monitored the situation to ensure the safety of guests and protection of Jamaica's tourism product.
"Ocho Rios is a viable destination and we the police would ensure that we work alongside the Port Authority and their tourism interests, to include TPDCo, to ensure that visitor safety is guaranteed. So despite this situation, there was no complaint from any of the passengers or crew as it relates to their stay overnight in Ocho Rios," he said.
