Kamal Bankay, Chair of Carnival in Jamaica and Executive Chairman of Xodus Carnival, has given a commitment that discussions will be held with the Kingston & St Andrew Municipal Corporation to prevent a recurrence of last Sunday's garbage pile-up across sections of the city.

The organisers of the event have sparked public outrage over the garbage left behind by revellers in locations such as New Kingston and Hope Road.

Mr Bankay, responding Monday on Radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines, said the carnival bands employ professional cleaning crews for the annual event.

According to him, most of the garbage seen in sections of the Corporate Area was in spectator zones along the routes.

He said those areas are not regulated by Carnival Jamaica.
