Cayman Islands: Premier Panton told to resign by 3pm today

Cayman Islands Premier Wayne Panton has been told to resign by 3pm today or face a vote of no confidence next week in a special sitting of Parliament.

Opposition Leader Roy McTaggart issued the ultimatum last night.

It comes in the aftermath of the resignation of government backbencher McKeeva Bush, which has led to the Cayman Islands Parliament being deadlocked.

Mr Bush said he no longer had faith in the direction of the government and was left with no choice but to resign.
