A parish court judge has ordered that Robert Bell, the St. Andrew businessman charged for the attack on a nurse last week Tuesday, remain in custody until Thursday.
The Police High Command had applied to the judge last week for him to remain behind bars while they intensified their investigation.
This was revealed by his attorney, Christopher Townsend.
Mr. Townsend told Radio Jamaica News that he expects to get a court date for his client on Thursday.
The 65-year-old businessman was charged on the weekend with several offences, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault at common law, possessing a firearm with intent to commit a first schedule offence and possession of a firearm with intent to cause injuries.
The police had reported that on May 13, about 7 p.m., the nurse was driving to work when her vehicle's path was blocked by a car driven by Mr. Bell.
A dispute ensued between the nurse and Mr. Bell, during which she was physically assaulted multiple times. Video footage of the dispute showed the businessman throwing the nurse to the ground and stepping on her head.
Mr. Bell was arrested on Wednesday.
