Dr. Delroy Fray, Clinical Coordinator at the Western Regional Health Authority
Outpatient clinic operations at Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) in St. James have been scaled back due to heat discomfort caused by damage to the central air conditioning unit.
Regional technical director Dr. Delroy Fray says the AC unit has a broken part that he hopes will be resolved by the end of this week.
Normal clinic operations are expected to resume by next Monday.
Dr. Fray explained that since Monday, patients at the hospital have experienced disruptions.
"In fact, I've noticed this every year when it approaches summer, when it gets very hot, the AC unit malfunctions, you know, and the comfort in seeing our patients can be affected. However, this year there's a part broken in the central AC system and this is the responsibility of the proprietor who we rent the place from and they are working assidiously to replace that part," he noted.
Dr. Fray said efforts are being made to prioritise care for new patients during this period.
