Opposition Leader Mark Golding
Opposition Leader Mark Golding has repeated his call for Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leader and Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness to call the general parliamentary election.
Speaking at a party forum in St. James on Wednesday evening, Mr. Golding expressed confidence that the People's National Party (PNP) will form the next government whenever the election is called.
Noting that the government "can run but them cyah hide", the PNP president said it was time for the governing party to "face the people".
"If they felt comfortable and confident, this woulda happen long time. We were planning for an election from February, because typically governments don't like to go to the wire with these things because it narrows their room for manoeuvre and so on. But they have been deferring it and deferring it. But it's not going to change. The people of Jamaica have made up their mind. And they want change. And they see the programmes and policies that we are speaking about and they understand that this is very important, that the People's National Party be brought back into government so we can deliver a government that the people can have confidence in," he asserted.
The general elections are constitutionally due this year.
