Following a surge in robberies, shootings and murders in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, the Police High Command has imposed a 48-hour curfew in sections of Enfield.
More than nine people have been murdered in the community due to gang violence.
The High Command said the curfew is to curb the violence.
The curfew, which started on Saturday at 6 p.m., runs until 6 p.m. Monday.
The boundaries of the curfew are north along Dry River Bridge towards Top Enfield, east along Enfield main road extending northeast towards the National Water Commission pump house at Fort Stewart.
It will also cover south, along an imaginary line running south from Top Enfield to May River and West, along May River to a section of Fort Stewart.
The police are seeking to assure that during the curfew, operations will be conducted with respect for human rights.
Community members are urged to cooperate fully with law enforcement.
Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the police and stay informed about developments.
