Cutting ties with Monarch not on the agenda

Jamaica's move to cut ties with the British Monarchy is not on the agenda for talks between Government officials and Prince Harry.

Royal aides in Britain say Prince Harry's meeting with Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is unrelated to her plan to make Jamaica a Republic.

Monday’s visit is part of the Prince's first solo royal tour of the Caribbean.

Royal aides denied reports the meeting with Mrs. Simpson-Miller was added after the Prime Minister declared her intention to remove Britain's Queen Elizabeth as Jamaica's head of state.

The tour was arranged as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Aides said the Prince is on a trade mission.

His trip includes visits to Brazil, the Bahamas and Brazil.

The visit to Brazil marks the first time Prince Harry has worked as a Trade Ambassador.

The royal family has been dividing the duties previously undertaken by Prince Andrew, who relinquished his role as Trade Ambassador last year.
