Daniel Dawes, Managing Director of the state run Transport Authority, has been fired with immediate effect.
Mr. Dawes was handed his termination letter on Friday afternoon.
The Transport Authority head had come under fire in recent times from some employees and scores of bus and taxi operators over his stewardship.
On November 13 approximately 50 administrative employees reported sick while calling for the resignation of Mr. Dawes.
They were joined in their call by executive members of at least four transport associations who also claimed they were frustrated with the Managing Director's management style.
Following the protest the transport ministry appointed a committee to investigate the concerns highlighted by the various groups.
Barrington Mills, Principal Finance Officer in the Ministry of Transport Works & Housing, as been appointed acting Managing Director. He is to take up his new post on Monday.
