Davis Whyte defends work of farm work investigation task force

Head of the task force that examined the working conditions of Jamaican farm workers in Canada, Helene Davis Whyte, is again defending the work of the panel.

There has been disquiet in some quarters after the mission reported that the majority of the workers were being treated well.

Opposition Spokesperson on Labour Angela Brown Burke on the weekend expressed dissatisfaction with the report of the panel and called for a further probe of the working conditions.

In restating her defence of the work of the mission, Mrs Davis Whyte said the team executed its duties in such a way as to get a true picture of the working conditions without influencing responses.
